Full Text

Hartt Opera-Theater of the University of Hartford will present Giuseppe Verdi's three-act comic opera "Falstaff" as its first offering of the season, at Elmwood's Talcott School, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 23, 24, and 25.

Dr. Moshe Paranov, Hartt president, will be musical director, and Dr. Elemer Nagy, chairman of the opera department, will design and stage the entire production. The costumes will be executed under the supervision of Pauline Hartt Paranov.

The sets will combine classic Elizabethan stage design with Dr. Nagy's "Multi-Projection System" for scenery. The Nagy system, developed several years ago, features the projecting of painted color slides on the back of Fiberglas panels. According to the director, this will mark the first time, in his memory, that Falstaff has been presented within the confines of an Elizabethan setting. The background will depict familiar London sights contemporary to the era.
