Full Text

Slightly Sold,—Yes, we were slightly sold during a visit to River Falls the other day. Friend Taylor offered us what we supposed to be an apple; and we very politely bowed to him as an acknowledgement of our thanks as we took the supposed apple; but what was our astonishment at finding it so hard that we could not force our teeth into it. It was petrified, and as hard as a "rock from the Granite Hills;" it preserved its original color and shape to a remarkable degree, even a dent on the side, received by a fall from the tree was "as natural as life." We consider that a regular double-distilled winter apple, and have the utmost confidence in its being able to keep the year round. Guess that apple would be hard to digest.—Hudson Chronicle.
