WEDNESDAY MORNING, MAY 3.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT.—We tender our thanks to our friend M. E. H. Fairfield for procuring us a copy of the Louisville Journal, to which paper we are indebted for the news from Europe in to-day's paper.
The Foreign News.—We are compelled to omit a large number of advertisements that should have appeared in to-day's paper, to give place to the all important news from Europe brought by the Acadia. Notwithstanding its length and the late hour on yesterday evening at which it came to hand, we are not disposed to print it, but give it to our readers in detail this morning. It is highly important and will be read by all classes with absorbing interest.
The difficulties which are breaking forth in Great Britain, if not soon checked, must lead to civil war, and such we think will be the result, for it will be observed that the government persists in forbidding the meeting of the chartists.
In Italy the masses are all in commotion, anxious and all but ready to throw off the Austrian yoke and proclaim themselves free; while Russia is arming and concentrating her troops for a deadly struggle. All Europe is in a blaze, and soon we shall hear of war and bloodshed, which when once begun it is impossible to tell where it will stop.
