The British Museum of Babylon has lately received three ancient and beautiful boundary stones.
Covered with inscriptions, hieroglyphics, and human figures. On the first
the name of Nebuchadnezzar, a Babylonian
king who reigned nearly 1,200 years
before the Christian era. The second bears
the name of Nebuchadnezzar, also a Babylonian
king, but one of whom no record has
been found, either in the cuneiform
inscriptions or in the classics, but from the
writing on the stone it is inferred
he lived in the early half of the seventh
century B.C. Most interesting of all is the
third. It has been engraved
at Nineveh, and on one side is entirely
filled with astrological signs. It was set up
of Nebuchadnezzar to commemorate
the taking back of a piece
of the Elamites' and its restoration
to the country of Akkad.
