CHICAGO (ANP)-Economics as well as idealism has helped to advance the American dream of democracy, according to former Illinois Congresswoman-at-Large, Emily Taft Douglas, wife of this State's senior Sen. Paul H. Douglas.
The former actress and author of children's books, was guest speaker at the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority 25th Anniversary Testimonial Luncheon, honoring Soror Lela M. Parker, founder president-emeritus, and original charter members, held at Hotel Sheraton last week.
Although a product of a Republican family, Mrs. Douglas is an ardent Democrat, currently helping her husband in politics.
Soror Parker, introduced by the national first vice president, Marion Jackson, thanked her sorors for a huge silver horn-a-plenty chest filled with silver dollars.
Other honored guests attending the luncheon included:
