CANADIANS WILL
TRAIN FOR NIPS
IN OL' KENTUCKY

WASHINGTON,
June 20.- A Canadian volunteer force destined
for the Pacific War will arrive at
Camp Breckinridge, Ky., early in
September for training, Maj. Gen. B.
M. Hoffmeister said today.

The 38-year-old officer, commander
of the 5th Canadian Armored
Division and veteran of more than
four years of fighting in Europe,
will lead the battle-wise Canadian
force against the Japanese.

Hoffmeister told a news conference
at the War Department that
approximately 28,000 Canadian veterans
already have volunteered for
Pacific service and that the number
is increasing daily. Reports
from Canada have set the size of the
group at approximately 30,000.
