Full Text

THE MUSIC AT THE CAPITOL—We partook of the general mortification which was experienced on Wednesday evening, in consequence of the disgraceful conduct of the Band which we gave notice would perform at the Capitol. They were present to be sure; at a late hour they played a single tune, when at the appearance of a small cloud, they scampered like frightened sheep, in every possible direction, and that was the close of the evening's entertainment. Instead of entering the Rotunda, or the building erected for the statue of Washington for a moment, until the cloud had passed, many took the opportunity to "make tracks" for their homes. They were not so much afraid of the rain but that they could venture to walk home "calm as a summer's morning."
We would suggest the propriety of these drones being discharged and "hired over again," or others substituted in their places.—Washington Journal.
