Child Breaks Bonds, Flees Following Kidnaping

ALLENTOWN, Pa., April 23. (UP)-Richard Taylor, 42, Akron, O., confessed to police today, they said, that he kidnaped 10-year-old Henry Koch, son of a wealthy Allentown merchant, after sending five ransom notes, demanding $20,000.
Earlier, the suspect had given his name as John James, Chicago. Captain of Detectives E. W. Kennell told the United Press that Taylor made a "full confession."
The official said two of the five ransom notes were received by Henry I. Koch, the boy's father, today. The fifth and final letter demanded the ransom and threatened the boy with death, according to Kennell.
Taylor, according to the purported confession, stopped young Koch as he left his home early today en route to school and invited him to ride in his automobile. Police said Taylor then drove outside Allentown where he taped the boy's mouth, arms and legs.
Henry, who was described as large for his age and of the athletic type, freed himself when Taylor (Continued on Page 2: Col. 5)

Taylor left the car parked by a roadside.
The boy ran to the home of Frank Blauser, farmer and told him what happened. Blauser notified authorities.
Taylor was arrested while sitting in his parked automobile near the city limits. Police said he admitted taking the boy and holding him prisoner for half an hour.
