MIAMI, Fla., Aug. 2. (U.P.) Capt. William Lancaster, British aviator, was brought to trial here today on a charge of murdering Haden Clarke, youthful newspaperman, in a bungalow by the side of the sea April 21.
As the trial began Judge J. H. Atkinson denied a defense motion for continuance until the next court term on the grounds of absence of a material witness, Dr. Percy L. Dodge.

Clarke was found dying of a bullet wound in his head on the sleeping porch he occupied with Lancaster in the bungalow home of Mrs. Jessie M. Keith-Miller, Australian woman flyer.
