Full Text

An Infallible Governor.—The Sacramento Bee states that, while the case of the People on the relation of McKune against Gov. Weller was being argued in the Supreme Court on Monday last, Chief Justice Terry said that if McKune were legally entitled to a commission as District Judge, the Governor could not be compelled to issue the commission, because the Court could not arrest or imprison him. "But," said Judge Currey, of counsel, "suppose his Excellency should commit a murder or any other felony?" "Even in that case," said the learned Chief Justice, "he could not be arrested or imprisoned—the only way to reach him would be by impeachment."
