Anti-Renters--These restless spirits have again commenced their outrages in Columbia county. On Thursday night last, several ruffians disguised as they were wont to be made an assault on the house and person of a peaceable citizen and ejected them from their residence, inflicting dangerous wounds on the outraged citizen. Can any better state of things be expected in the infected district of anti-rentism in New York, since Gov. Young owes his office to the anti-rent influence, and so promptly showed his gratitude for their votes by pardoning the convicts that had been condemned to the gallows and state prison! These convictions took place under the administration of the State Government by Silas Wright, and the ready pardons accorded by his whig successor are now operating as a bounty for future atrocities and disorders. Gov. Wright caused the laws to be respected and executed, and the consequence was that an alliance was formed between the whigs and anti-renters, in which some recreant democrats joined, impelled probably by the same motive that caused the Athenian to vote for the banishment of Aristides because he was tired of hearing him called "the Just".
