The College Spirit And Atlanta

Atlanta is one of the celebrated college centers of this nation. For many years she has been the hub of educational and cultural activities and as such, she has emerged as one of the powerful communities of our time.

The past week, known as college enrollment week has seen heavy registrations in all the schools. Many states are being represented in the young people converging on the schools of their choice.

The colleges have made excellent improvements during the summer months; some are engaged in great building campaigns which bespeak expansion and more wholesome facilities.

It is also noticeable that the faculties of these schools have been strengthened by the addition of members of recognized scholastic standing and that seasoned experience which must be the most effective requirement in the restrictions governing our educational institutions.

The private college has a fixed place in our free educational agenda; we must have the private college, independent in its scope and Democratic in its principles and practices.

The private college is the mother of educational enterprise in this country and it is hoped that the day will never come when the interest in the private ventures will lag.

The college and the college spirit are powerful assets to our community; through them we gain new life and new emphasis in those endeavors aimed at equality and freedom for all mankind.

We take this method in welcoming the students and faculties to Atlanta and may they find here a better understanding and a more bountiful relationship than they left here last June.
