Between 12 and 1 o'clock on Saturday night, John Utzinger, a young man residing on Middle street, had a quarrel with his father, who was endeavoring to take him home on Rockland street. Jacob Weidle and Geo. Gerlitzski had been with Utzinger, and when they saw that his father was getting the best of the fight, Weidle ran to assist him when Officer Elias caught hold of him to arrest him and started in Rockland street. He resisted and fought but Officer Leman soon came to the assistance of Elias. After they had taken him a short distance young Utzinger and Gerlitzski ran to the assistance of their friend and endeavored by threats to rescue him. Utzinger had a lot of stones in his hands, but did not throw them. Weidle was landed in the station house after he had fought the whole way, and the others were arrested soon afterwards. This morning the mayor gave them a hearing and Weidle was returned to court for assaulting and resisting an officer. The other two were returned for interfering with an officer in the discharge of his duty.
