Accusation Against 76 College Students To Be Filed This Week

Fulton County Criminal Court Solicitor John I. Kelley announced Friday that Criminal Court accusations will be filed Monday or Tuesday against approximately 76 college students arrested last month in 10 simultaneous lunch counter segregation protests.

The filing of the accusations is merely the prelude to the trial of the students. Contained in the official accusation papers will be the statement of state violations the students are accused of committing.

The date of the actual trial for the students has not been set officially, but Solicitor Kelley said the college students will come to trial in May.

They were charged with violating the state's new trespassing law and two other sections involving unlawful assembly and parts of the state anti-mask law.

The 76 demonstrators were bound over to Criminal Court. 59 from Atlanta Municipal Court and 17 from Fulton County Civil Court.

Without elaborating further. Mr Kelley indicated that persons other than those arrested will be named in the accusations. The solicitor said that arrests were not made at the scenes of all the demonstrations. "We are trying to get the names of all the participants,"
