Full Text

A $17,000 Spree.

[N. Y. Herald.]

It is to be feared that the reports of the manner in which a Brooklyn man recently spent a large sum of money recovered as damages for injuries incurred by a railroad accident will cause many men to intentionally imperil their lives. The sum received by the person in question was $17,000 and the time four years ago. Nearly the entire amount is said to have been expended on one continuous spree that began when the money was received and had not ended at last accounts. To know that a spree can last four years will be a blissful surprise to many bibulous men, and to know that $17,000 is enough to sustain inebriety for four years will give great satisfaction to the same class. All that any of these gentlemen now need to make them happy is to know how to get the money itself; if they can obtain it by enduring any amount of physical injury they may be depended upon not to flinch.
