Mr. Clay.—This distinguished citizen arrived in our city yesterday morning about ten o'clock. He came from Louisville in the steam boat Franklin, Capt. Strader, in company with the steam boat Phoebe, Capt. Vance. Information of the probable time of his arrival having been received from the committee, the steam boat Fulton, Capt. Greene, was chartered by a number of citizens, on board of which about 200 proceeded towards Louisville. The boats met nine miles from the city. It is useless to attempt a description of the greetings that took place. In every particular Mr. Clay's reception was most cordial. He expects to remain with us until Tuesday next. At two o'clock this day a cold collation will be spread, in Mayor Ruffner's orchard, in this city, where all the citizens of the city, and its vicinity, are invited to attend. and partake.—Mr. Clay will be present, and an opportunity will be extended to all who wish it to cultivate his acquaintance.
