OSSIAN LAST WEEK
Safe blowers visited Ossian last Friday morning but were rewarded only slightly for their efforts. They failed to get anything valuable from the safe at the Urban City garage but did get between $10 and $12 from the cash drawer. The yeggs gained entrance to the Melching grain elevator. They did not obtain any money or anything else of value there.
Nate Weaver was the only Ossian resident known to have heard the explosion at the garage. He stated that he heard a muffled explosion about 3:30 o'clock that morning and immediately called Jesse Shafer, the proprietor of the garage. Mr. Shafer went to the garage immediately but found no one there.
Two bloodhounds from Byran, O. were brought to Ossian this afternoon, and while they would follow a trail from the garage a distance of only about a block and it is reported that they followed courses from the elevator that brought them up to the homes of Ben King and Herschel Grieder, a grandson of Mrs. Fred Herman.
