LONDON. January 8.

A few days ago an eminent Peruke-maker having frequently amused himself in reading books on Masonry, thought himself so compleat a master of the secret, that he went to a lodge in the city, and demanded admittance: but, on examining him, he was soon found to be an imposter: whereon they told him they could not admit him unless he would shew the mark of the Salamander; upon which he made off through a window with the greatest precipitation.

The Salamander is, the Name of the Poker commonly used at the making of MASONS.
