BEDFORD, Ind., (A)—Sen. William E. Jenner (R-Ind.) went hunting today and left politicians of both parties guessing at the reasons for his sudden withdrawal as a candidate for re-election.
Jenner made his announcement in a two-paragraph letter made public today.
"There are many reasons," he wrote. "Most of the reasons are personal. At any rate, they're all mine. Some might be misunderstood if I elaborated . . ."
Jenner said he will practice law in Indianapolis.
