WASHINGTON, April 18.-The Weaver bill, designed to lower the basic acreage from 427,000 to 400,000 acres, as the minimum area for acceptance, on which the park may be formally inaugurated, was passed in the lower house late Monday.

The bill also contains some other technical changes, which are expected to avoid delay in opening of the park.

The Weaver bill already is before the senate, having been introduced by Senator Bachman, of Tennessee, and it will be pressed for passage there. In addition to the changes mentioned, the bill contains a clause which would make available certain funds already allocated for the purchase of land in the park area for emergency conservation work purposes.
