Full Text

SIMPLY PITIFUL. There appears an article in the Boise City Statesman of Thursday, headed "Growth of Morals in Idaho City," which surprises us even in that sheet. What motive, what end, other than the gratification of a low and mean personal spite, the writer had in view, we cannot conjecture. The article is simply pitiful in character. We regret that our cotemporary will permit his columns to be used in the sorry part of breeding only harsh feelings between the citizens of Idaho and Boise cities. Both doubtless have their foibles and weaknesses, but it will not subserve the public weal nor any good purpose, for these to be impertinently thrust before the people. So far as the thing can be aided by the journals of the respective cities, it will be better that they should seek to cultivate the reciprocal good feelings between these communities, than to exhibit an eagerness in exposing and magnifying the merely personal affairs and actions of the citizens of either place.
