An Ashe County Ministerial Association was organized here last Thursday by a small group of ministers who are in hopes that practically all preachers in the county will join the organization within the near future.
Another organization meeting and "membership drive" meeting will be held next Monday, April 11, 2 p. m. at the First Baptist church here and all ministers in the county, of all denominations, are invited to attend and join the newly formed county association.
At the initial meeting Rev. W. T. Whittington was elected president; Rev. R. H. Stone, vice-president and Rev. W. J. Huneycutt, secretary and treasurer.
The Association proposes to meet quarterly at different communities in the county. At the meeting Monday a constitution and set of by-laws will be drafted and adopted, Mr. Huneycutt said.
It is believed that this is the first attempt to organize an Ashe county ministerial association.
