BENEFICENT MONETARY REFORM.

W. P. Thompson, the millionaire president of the National Lead Company of New York city, more commonly known as the Lead Trust, is in Leadville, Colo., looking over the mining and milling situation. "I am," said he in an interview, "a thorough believer in the doctrine of bimetallism. It is the most beneficent monetary reform which has ever been proposed, and the world cannot too soon get on a bimetallic basis. I believe the United States is strong enough to take the initiative in the matter of silver and that free coinage could be adopted by us without any danger whatever."
