Mayor Will Wire Thursday More Information PWA

Having received no information on the status of the loan and grant agreement between the city of Nome and the Public Works Administration, during the past ten days, Mayor Rex F. Swartz is planning to send another wire to authorities, both in Juneau and Washington.

The special bond election held in Nome in July ratified the action of the council in deciding to bond the city in connection with the PWA loan and grant system. The results were wired to the authorities and they were asked to expedite the signing of the agreement so that actual work could commence as early as possible.

Tomorrow the mayor intends requesting speedy action on the granting of authority to proceed in connection with the projects laid out.

The season is already half gone and much work is necessary before winter sets in. Supplies of different kinds must be shipped from the states to take care of some of these proposals.

Officials in Washington have been apprised of conditions here at numerous times, but as matters stand now there is serious danger that some of the work may not be done this fall unless speedy authority is granted to proceed with definite action on the plans.
