The Atlanta chapter of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has launched a 15,000 membership goal, which will reach its peak here on January 1, when Mrs. Ella J. Baker, National Director of Branches, will be speaker at Big Bethel AME Church. Dr. Wm. Jackson, pastor, Bethlehem Baptist Church, is general chairman of the membership drive among the churches. Each minister has agreed to poll his own church members in the hope that each church will have 100% enrollment in the NAACP. Prof. C. L. Harper, President of the local branch, stated here Friday night that a partial report from the churches and other groups will be called for on January 1.
ADVANCED GIFTS HEAD W. L. Calloway, of the Alexander-Calloway Company, has accepted assignment as chairman of the Advanced Gifts Committee. Workers in this group will also make tentative reports of their progress on January 1.
The Special Committee will hold an important meeting again tomorrow, Monday, December 23 at the Butler Street YMCA. Ministers of every church denomination are urgently requested to be in attendance.
