VIENNA, Austria. - Reliable reports reaching Vienna through the Iron Curtain said that the Soviet Air Force is building strong, strategic air bases in Communist Czechoslovakia,
According to earlier reports, Russia intends to turn her western most satellites in Europe into first class air centers for her strategic bomber and fighter forces.
The Soviets already are reported to have made Hungary one of their most important air bases in East Europe by building or planning to build some 35 airfields. At least 25 are understood to be in operation.
According to latest reports reaching Czech anti-Communist Organizations in the Austrian capital, the Soviets have ordered the erection of one of the biggest airfields west of Russia's borders near Bratislava, in Slovakia.
The Bratislava Air Base, now under construction is scheduled to be finished by early next spring. The runway is said to be capable of accommodating the heaviest Soviet-built long-range bomber type. as well as the latest Russian jet fighter models.
Some 12,000 political and other prisoners of the Czech regime were said to be working on this new Soviet air base close to the frontiers of western Democracies.
