Wednesday last a certain Cornelius M'Carty, perukemaker, in this city, was committed to our gaol for robbing the iron chest of Messrs. Campbell and Gault, of this place, merchants, of the sum of 238l. in paper money, the Monday before. On searching his house 218l. of the cash was found in a private drawer in his desk; he denies the theft, and says he found the money in the gangway in the yard. The said M'Carty was greatly entrusted by Messrs. Campbell and Gault, was their barber, and as free in their house as the best servant.
