HYMN FOR NEW YEAR'S DAY.

"This year thou shalt die!" how solemn the thought!
Great God is it I? must this be my lot?
Must I who am healthy, so soon yield my breath?
Lord teach me my frailty, prepare me for death.

"This year thou shalt die!" now sinner, regard
The voice from on high; thy life is yet spar'd:
By faith and repentance prepare for thy fate,
'Twill soften the sentence; defer not too late.

"This year thou shalt die!" O! christian, rejoice,
From earth thou shalt fly, to bliss in the skies:
What though thy connections would bid thee remain-
Such heavenly reflections shew "death will be gain."

"This year thou shalt die"-but who can, express
The transports of my soul by Christ
Which those shall inherit, for ever above,
Who, sav'd by his Spirit, shall die in his love?
