Letters To The Editor

CONGRATULATIONS

Editor: Congratulations to your papers on the part they played in the final ending of the racial bar and segregation in the Minnesota National Guard. A few of us remember the initial fight of the Minnesota Defense Committee headed by such men as the late Jose Sherwood, Sam Reed, Rev. C. T. R. Nelson, Jonas G. Schwartz, Frank Boyd, Talmadge B. Carey and others which started the ball rolling which culminated in our great Governor's announcement of the end of Jim Crow and the racial bar in our tax supported state military. Congratulations also to the vet groups led by Ben Peery in recent years who kept hammering away at the issue.-
