Charge
Fear that he might be charged with carrying concealed weapons caused Isaacs Sanders, 40, of 415 Fifth st. to abandon his hero role when he saved two men from being beaten and seriously injured by strongarm robbers.
Around 1:30 a.m. yesterday morning Eugene Heath, 36, and John H. Cottrell, 25, both of 405 Warren st. were suddenly attacked at Fifth and Backus st.
Their attackers showed vast experience as one robber began beating Heath about the head with his fist and a knife and quickly relieved him of his wallet containing $40. The other bandit took on Cottrell and expertly ripped his trouser pocket out; the pocket is said to have contained $20.
One of the robbers needed a good pair of shoes and since Heath's were available he took them

them.
It was then that our reluctant hero, Sanders, came upon the scene and brandished his revolver.
His arrival saved Heath from being stabbed by one of the robbers.
The knowledge that he had a gun and police would soon be asking embarrassing questions worried Sanders until he decided to call police from the safety of his home. Seeing Sanders rush hastily away the robbers made a quick retreat only to be recaptured through Sanders excellent description of them.
Meanwhile Sanders is in a dither as to whether police will thank him or throw a concealed weapons charge at him.
