Washington, March 14.—It is understood that a Court of Inquiry is about to be instituted, at the request of Commodore Porter, to investigate his conduct in regard to certain matters referred to in letters of Mr. Randall and Mr. Mountain, officially transmitted to Congress at the last session, touching the transportation of specie, by vessels of the United States, &c.— We have not heard when or where the Court is to assemble.
Concerning the Faxardo affair, which was made the occasion of the Commodore's recall, we have not heard any thing further, except that it is to undergo investigation.
Waiting the official reports on these subjects, we shall only now express our hope, that they will redound to the credit of the commodore, and to the joy of his many and sincere friends.
