Our friends from across the Pacific—the Japs—are at Salt Lake, snow bound and in a tremendous ill-humor. DeLong is tearing and swearing about the city of Saints, with the vim and jump-up-ativeness of a very little dog in very tall rye. He says the detention will injure the trans-continental under the snow railway millions of dollars through the report which the High Japs will make of the matter. It is possible Charley places a higher estimate upon the opinion and influence of the Japs than the rest of mankind. If any harm come of or to their Angelic Highnesses through this little delay, we hold DeLong responsible. He knew the road was blockaded, and the winds which whistle about Mount Davidson have found their way up his pantaloon legs too often for him not to know that it blows great guns out on the plains at this season of the year. He had no business to go out there with his donkeys. He knew the road was closed, and it looks to us fellows, who know Charley well, very much though he had put up a job on the railway companies and their stockholders.
