Last Saturday a large Sleigh, containing a Number of Gentlemen, drawn by 4 Horses in returning to Town from a small Excursion into the country, met, just at the Entrance of the Town a noted Market Woman, known by the Name of Betty Whittemore, riding in a Chair: the Horses in the Sleigh were drove with great Violence, and being near the Chair before it could be seen there was no Time for either to turn out of the Way; accordingly the Horses and Sleigh came with such Violence as to throw Betty a considerable way from her carriage, broke her Chair to Pieces and killed her Horse, (which she valued very highly) dead upon the Spot: The Driver of the Sleigh was considerably hurt, and his Horses all fell to the Ground by the Violence of the Shock.
