Full Text

Great Excitement in Broadway.

A few days have passed since a large crowd of Germans assembled in Broadway, and gave every demonstration of a riot in front of the residence of the Hessian Consul. The cause of the excitement grew out of the fact that an immigrant, German went to the residence of the Consul, Mr. A. Bollermann, for some information. As he did not take off his hat to that functionary he saved him the courtesy due his eminence, by knocking it off; from which uncivil demonstration the mob was disposed to pull down his house.
