NEWPORT, December 26.

Last Tuesday arrived here His Majesty's Ship Bristol, of 50 Guns, having been but three Days from the Delaware. By her we learn, that nothing Material has taken Place in that Quarter since the Reduction of Mud Island, &c. —The Troops have gone into Winter Quarters, after trying by every Stratagem to bring Mr. Washington to another Engagement, which he very prudently declined by suddenly decamping from Germantown. His main Body are now about 40 Miles distant from Philadelphia, and the Remainder scattered into such Parties as will pillage and ruin the wretched Inhabitants who yet groan under their Tyranny.
