Military Convention.—A Convention of the officers of the 1st Brigade, Connecticut Militia, was held at Hartford on the 22d ult. Gen. Leonard R. Welles, presiding, at which various methods were proposed for the improvement of Military discipline in our local Militia, and the advancement of science and promotion in the several corps, together with a series of Resolutions, and among them the following:

Resolved, That we recommend holding a State Military Convention, in the city of Hartford, on the Thursday following the first Wednesday in May next, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, to be composed of all the officers in the Military in the State; delegations from the several military companies of Cavalry, Artillery, Infantry and Rifle, and members of the militia generally, for the purpose of taking into consideration the subject of the militia system, and adopting some efficient means to improve its condition. And we would farther recommend that the members of the Convention appear at said place and time in the uniform of the rank to which they are entitled, or the companies to which they respectively belong, both officers and privates in uniform with side arms.
