Full Text

Extract of a Letter from an Officer at Invernes, May 9.

By this Day's Orders for Regulation of Cloathing, Mordaunt's, Handasyde's, Blakeney's and Battereau's Regiments are to continue at Invernes; the Royals, Sempill's and Pulteney's, are to remain in the Mountains; and the other 12 Regiments are to march Southward, after remaining long enough in the Highlands to support Parties that are destroying the accessible Places to the Rebels.

The Lowland Rebels are all dispers'd, except a few notorious Villains, who do not hope for Mercy.

Most of Lochiel's Clan are destroy'd.

By what I can find, the Temper of the Highlanders is such, that after an Action they are not to be brought together again.
