ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING.
An Atascosa County Man Steals Away His Child and is Arrested.
Some time ago W. T. Morton, residing in Atascosa county, had some difficulty with his wife, Cora Morton, and the two parted, the latter coming with her son, Stanley, aged 2 years, to this city. She has been stopping on South Flores street. Not long since, the wife, fearing for the safety of her boy, appealed to Judge King, who, after hearing the circumstances, granted an injunction, enjoining Morton from bothering or taking the child away.
Yesterday Morton arrived in San Antonio, and began to search for his wife. Learning that she was quartered on South Flores street, he repaired about 8:30 o'clock this morning, to the house. On his arrival he said he simply desired to see his little son, whom he loved so dearly. His request was granted and when the child was brought before his father, the latter grabbed him and ran. As soon as possible word of the kidnapping was communicated to the police authorities, and Officers Beck and Perez went in search of the man and boy. They hunted for some time and at last found them. Stanley was taken to his mother and the father was placed under arrest on the charge of kidnapping, and was taken before Justice Griff Jones to answer to the charges preferred. He was placed under a $1000 bond and will have a preliminary hearing at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
