Mr. Naylor, and published in the Ann Arbor (Michigan) paper, and the Editor thus notices the effort
of the representative of our Third District:-
We like the speech much. It breathes throughout
the spirit of a patriot and a man. It assumes
the true ground of our institutions, and urges home
upon the gentleman from South Carolina, with tremendous force, the character of the men he would
meet with, should he attempt to put his threat in
execution, of preaching insurrection to northern
laborers!
We like to see the assaults of southern men on
our institutions, and the character of our people, repelled with spirit, truth and justice, and this Mr.
Naylor has done fearlessly and eloquently. This
gentleman, it will be recollected by our readers,
was elected to Congress, recently, over Mr. Ingersoll, the great loco foco candidate, and his election
will prove not only an honor to himself and his constituents, but a blessing to the whole country.
We want more such men in Congress, and we will
have them. Partisan dolts have ruled and ruined
long enough. Give us men like Naylor, and all
would soon be well. - Philad. paper.
