City Police Probe Shooting Complaint

Police Tuesday were investigating the complaint of a man who said his wife was shot Saturday while she was visiting a friend.

The man listed as James W. Florence, of 616 English Ave., N. W. He was quoted as saying his wife, Mrs. Mattie Lois Florence, 25, was at a Nelson Street address when the man came in and took her glass.

Mrs. Florence picked up a small radio and was shot in her left leg above the knee, the husband said. He added she is now interned at the William A. Harris Hospital at 975 W. Hunter St., with a leg broken below the knee.
