Services were well attended last Sunday at the St. James A.M.E. Church. Sunday School met at the usual hour under the supervision of Supt. Matthew Howard. The spirit was high throughout the morning worship services with the pastor, Rev. B. C. Carswell, delivering a forceful message. Music was rendered by the Junior Choir, Mrs. Alma P. Bryant, director. Miss Mildred Franklin was godmother for little Donesta and Darell Bennett, children of Mr. and Mrs. George Bennett, who were baptized following the morning sermon. Special prayers of rededication to God's service were made in this service as well as a special prayer for Mrs. Lucille McIntosh, who has been ill and confined to her home for a long period of time.
Revival services are being held this week at St. James with the Rev. J. M. Dinkins as evangelist. The public is invited. Services begin each night at 7:30 p.m.
Plans are underway for the annual men's day celebration which will be held on Sunday, September 25. This year's theme is "The Task of the Layman in Christian Evangelism". Mr. George Sawyer is general chairman, Mr. Matthew Howard, co-chairman.
