Full Text

Rev. McFarland, pastor of the Presbyterian church, who has been absent for some time taking treatment for his eyes, returned last Friday, and seems to have been greatly benefited by his vacation. When it was learned that he had returned, the ladies of the church prepared a reception for him at the church. There was a nice program of music and recitations. Hon. N. F. Murray presided and made a pleasing address, bidding the pastor welcome and congratulating the church on his return. At the close of the entertainment, Mr. Murray, in behalf of the congregation, presented Rev. McFarland with a handsome pocket book, containing a considerable sum of money. Mr. McFarland responded in a happy manner and seemed deeply affected by the reception tendered him. The ladies then served ice cream and cake to all present, and everybody went away delighted with the evening's entertainment.
