Full Text

Armond Thompson in writing to old friends here, from his present home in P. E. Island, makes some remarkable statements regarding the black fox industry. He states that he has seen more real money change hands in the fox industry in his six months' residence on the island than during his many years in this camp. Armond was always considered truthful, so we shall have to take his word.

He states that a relative on an investment of $475.00 cleared $5,000.00 in less than six months; that his brother sold a pair of foxes for $1,600.00; that Joe Mallet refused $15,000.00 for one pair and that a brother-in-law of Jim Boden is a millionaire, having sold one she fox for $7,000.00. A local company has sold the Russian government six pair of foxes for the sum of $100,000.00--$50,000.00 down and the balance, on the safe delivery of same at St. Petersburg this summer.

The result of these communications has created a foxy fever in many of the old time friends of Mr. Thompson, who are anxious to make some easy money. We trust that they will not all rush to the island, as Gilpin county needs them to get out the gold to keep the fox industry going.
