Young Man Supposed to be Single Reveals His Married State When His Wages Are Garnisheed.
It has come to light that Clarence Pfautz, the young man who drove bus for the Normandy hotel for a time and who has recently been working at the trade of a painter, is not a single man at all as every body supposed, but is married and has a wife and child living at Lisbon, Ia., his old home.
Attorney J. F. Glenn recently received for collection an account against Pfautz from a firm in Lisbon. The young man was surprised one morning to wake up and find his wages garnished. He immediately informed Mr. Glenn that he was a married man and produced letters from his wife and other evidence to prove his statement.
Mr. Glenn said he was "from Missouri" and would have to be showed. Mr. Pfautz employed Sam O'Hare to defend him in resisting the garnishee and the matter will be given a hearing before a justice July 30.
Since coming to Denison Pfautz has been keeping company with a number of different young ladies and this is why nobody ever thought of his being married.
