NO CHANCE TO PATCH VALLEE MARITAL ROW

CHICAGO, Jan. 16. (U.P.)—Rudy Vallee, whose path to fame led through the hearts of many a fair radio listener, sped eastward today away from the tangling technicalities of a legal action started by the woman who once was dearest to him.

Rudy, whose private investigators tapped the beautiful Fay Webb Vallee's private telephone line and discovered surprising things about her extra-marital acquaintances, was reticent to talk about the suit for separate maintenance in which Fay won the first skirmish in Los Angeles yesterday.

Asked if there was any chance of a reconciliation with Fay the curly-haired singer responded vehemently, "not the slightest."

Although denying that he has become embittered of womankind Vallee also declared there is no chance of his marrying Alice Fay.

"Besides, that would be bigamy," he said, "darned bigamy."

Rudy was accompanied by his New York attorney, Hyman Bushel, who protested reports that the pair left Los Angeles in haste to escape process servers.

"We left the coast without any effort to evade anybody," said Bushel. "Rudy's got to be back in New York tomorrow to fulfill his radio contract."

With respect to the telephone conversations between Gary Leon and Fay, Bushel indicated that only portions of the evidence obtained by investigators had been revealed. "If we disclosed all of it Leon would be frightfully embarrassed," he said.
