PHILADELPHIA, May 28. (UP)—Mayor S. Davis Wilson announced today he would ask the LaFollette civil liberties committee to investigate the Pennsylvania primary May 17 "to prevent a recurrence of the disgraceful conditions existing in the state and city on primary election day."
Wilson, a candidate on the slate supported by the CIO and Sen. Joseph F. Guffey, was defeated for the Democratic senatorial nomination by Gov. George H. Earle.
The mayor said he would not contest the nomination but would ask hearings on the manner inspectors were appointed in Philadelphia "by leaders in both reactionary groups."
"Why thousands of voters were disfranchised, particularly those who changed their party affiliation or addresses," and "who controlled the collection of money from WPA workers, state workers and government employes."
