Full Text

Extract of a letter from General La Croix, at GUADALOUPE, dated the 1st of September, to a person in authority at this place.

"A report prevails in the neighbouring islands, that the Negroes and Mulattoes of this colony are in insurrection. Do not give it the smallest credit. Cultivation and trade are in an increasing state of prosperity. The only ground for that rumour may be the circumstance of three Conscripts of colour, who, in a striking instance, infringed the laws of discipline, and have been condemned to the irons."
