The New-London Gazette, of the 2d inst. gives an account of the arrival of the Transit, from Bordeaux, with dispatches from our commissioners. Political news no later than before received. The Vienna congress was expected to sit through the winter, from the want of harmony. Austria wants most of Italy, Russia wants Poland, Prussia wants Saxony, England opposes. France has lost much of her influence, as her present government is not thought energetic, or firmly fixed in its finances. American successes have raised her character among the Europeans. Americans are caressed by all classes in France. The appointment of Soult as minister of war, was very popular.—Lord Wellington said publicly, 10 days before the treaty of peace reached Paris, that he expected orders from his government to proceed to America; and if so, he should go. George W. Erving, minister of the U. States to the Court of Madrid, was still in Paris.
