Event Details
The Colorado river has reached a higher stage during the present rise than for several years. The highest mark registered was 27 feet 11 inches. This was not long maintained, but it has hovered between 27 and 28 feet for several days. The gauge showed 27 feet 6 inches this (Wednesday) morning. The headgate of the Ludy canal has stood the pressure well. The necessity for a substantial levee along the Colorado river has again been emphasized, and the question should again be taken up ... Government help should be asked ... congress can be induced to give us an appropriation for the purpose this winter.
