THE NEW GAME.—In alluding, a few days since, to the fact of the election of John Quincy Adams to a seat in the 22d congress, we did not ascribe a course so unbecoming one who had been honored with the chief magistracy of the Union, to any thing beyond a passion for the public life, which sought its gratification at any sacrifice of reputation, and a desire of passing the winter at the seat of government (which is Mr. A.'s custom) at the public expense rather than his own.

Upon reflection, we apprehend that there are other causes possibly of equal weight in the estimation of the new congressman. Is it not the starting-post of a new political career? Was not the apprehension of entire neglect in the "dull pursuits" at Quincy, added to the hope, that by appearing again in the political arena, he might be remembered, and be taken up by some new party, wanting a candidate, and craving power? And what party so likely to take up him whom the people have put down, as the political Anti masons? Indeed, may not this movement of the ex-president be taken as an assurance that he is again in the political field; that he is ready to become the candidate of any party that will accept of his name, and that Anti-masonry is to be the last hope of the House of Braintree? And will not the Anti-masonic "national" convention, to be held in Baltimore next October, for the nomination of an Anti-masonic candidate for the Presidency, follow the course which seems to be so naturally in the order of things? For what can be more natural, than the followers in the footsteps of the Bourbons, the Ferdinands, and the Don Miguels of Europe, should take to their embrace, and attempt to re-establish over the declared will of the people, the political Bourbons of America?

We perceive that the candidate is already in training. He was supported at the recent election in the Plymouth district, by the Anti-masons. At a meeting held in Abington, on the 19th Oct. (previous to the election) Mr. Adams was nominated for congress, and the following preamble adopted, as the reasons for giving him the support of Anti-masons;

"And whereas we have reason to believe that he (Mr. Adams) has already been,
made to drink of the bitter cup of masonic proscription for daring to avow that he was not, never would be, mason, &c. &c. These are the initiatory steps. The sequel will show how far they have been well taken.--Albany Argus.
